    Welcome to my garden website

Please feel free to ask questions about a garden, garden designs, or plant problems. I will post the questions.  If I have an answer I will e mail you  and also post the answer.  If I am stuck and I am not able to find an answer, which happens all too often, maybe someone will write in and give us both the answer.

If you have any helpful ideas on tools that you enjoy using in your garden please share it with me, I am also looking forward to plant ideas that do well in your gardens environment, so include the zone you live in, and I will post it to encourage other gardeners in your area to try it in their garden as well.

My wishes are that you have had a good holiday and that you and your families are well.

Mine was a very good holiday, although during the holiday I found that my garden greenhouse had problems.  It will just take work, darn, I was hoping that it would be ok and maybe the plug was just an un-plugged plug.  My seed bed heat mat is not heating.  Luckily, I have most of my seedlings out of it, although there are some cuttings still there.  They have not been the bed long enough to develop a strong root system yet, if I remove them I am afraid that I will lose most of them.

    I Must Have Been Grumpy

In re-reading my last entry, it shows that I was grumpy.  Thank goodness I could go back and see the lovely color of my Japanese maple, wasn’t it a pretty color?  The leaves have fallen now and almost everything is bare.  I have just come in from blowing up the leaves in the driveway.  Tomorrow I will go out into the Memory Garden and rake the piles of leaves and bag them for composting, and then bag up the pile of leaves in the drive.  I am really counting on the composted leaves to keep the weeds down in the garden beds. Addendum to my note

I have an addendum to my note on my hunt for the grow bag.  I received a letter this afternoon from Scotts.  They were sorry that I could not find the Mirical-Gro Gro Bag.  Then goes on to suggest that I use the larger bag that they offer.  It is apparent that they do not understand the convenience of using the smaller bag.

    Color for Fall Fashion

    Color for Fall Fashion

Fall, to me means color in the garden that is lovely and peaceful.

I need to enjoy it before the leaves fall and leave me with shades of grey and brown.  The majority of my trees leaves have been picked up and bagged or in my compost pile , although with the wind and rain yesterday as I look at the window I can see there are more on the ground.  This could be my decorative look for the yard if I leave them.  What do you think?  (I hope you are smiling)

It feels good to get a lot done before the weather really turns, if it were not for the holiday coming up I could have cleaned a bit more.  But needed to tackle the house and plan for family coming and the holiday  meals.  I am so excited to have my family here, we do not see them often and miss them.

In my protected garden (which you have heard me refer to as the Cafeteria Garden) The leeks that I planted last spring are looking good and ready to be used in a soup.  For this coming year I have planted some onions, green onions, spinach and lettuce, I am hoping to plant some fava beans also.

In the upper garden I have some cabbage,  more lettuce and garlic.

I am hoping that all of you are well and comfortable for the coming holidays.

    Grow Bag

I am very excited about the following garden product.

It is from Britain, it is a frame that allows you to hang a bag and grow things in it.  The bag is referred to as a grow bag.  The frame hanger was developed to make grow bags more efficient, easier to move and water.  Crown Garden Products in Great Britian developed, produces and sells the frame.  What is wonderful is that by using the frame you can move the bag easily.  It can be used on any bag of soil, but the one I like is the Grow Bag that is mentioned on the youtube.  It is 35cm x 95cm (13in x 37in) dimension.  The hanger has attachments that can be added to it, allowing you to grow vines also.  Meaning flowers or pea’s  This would be so much fun for those of us who have had to give up our large gardens and have patios to work with now, or the new gardener who wants a kitchen herb garden.  I am going to try the frame with the larger bags available to me now, but I want the smaller bag and will keep an eye out for them, as I am getting older.  For now I am going to use the large soil bag and empty some of it out to make it easier to maneuver.

I have included the youtube web sites for you to go and observe for yourself.  I am very excited as I can see a myriad of uses, for those of us who want to start a patio garden, the frame makes it easy to move around, bring indoors or move out for more sun during your growing needs.  It would be fun to plant flowers as well as vegetables to bring a smile on our faces.

Let me know what you think, as I want to sell the frames on this site.  It is important for me to hear your opinion.
